The initiative provides the community with access to free plants which residents can use in their gardens to help make our neighbourhoods become cooler, greener and more liveable. The event allows the community to interact with Council horticulturalists and ask questions around growing and developing fantastic green spaces in our LGA. Due to the popularity of this initiative Council will be improving the format of the event and using a booking system to manage crowds and wait times. Please make sure to book in advance and come down to Council’s Free Tree Give Away.
Over the past five years, Council has planted more than 500,000 trees, native shrubs and ground covers across the Parramatta LGA. We also host one of the largest National Tree Day planting events in Australia, with about 1,000 residents planting more than 10,000 indigenous seedlings each year.
