Parramatta by the Numbers 

The Community Strategic Plan is the highest level of plan a Council prepares. It includes the vision, priorities and aspirations of the community. The following report reflects on the progress that has been made towards Parramatta’s Community Strategic Plan over the last 4 years.

This report shows information from the former Parramatta City Council Local Government Area (LGA) prior to becoming the City of Parramatta as a result of a Government proclamation on 12 May 2016.

City of Parramatta is committed to improving local connections within Parramatta and significant progress has been made between 2012-2015 towards achieving this goal. From 2012-2015, City of Parramatta Council has worked with RMS, the Federal Government and Transport for NSW to deliver a range of quality projects that have focused on improving connectivity within our community. Parramatta has something for everyone and the City of Parramatta has been encouraging local creative enterprises, attracting events, encouraging engagement, developing sporting events and fixtures, celebrating diverse cultural perspectives and boosting the local economy. Find out more.


The City of Parramatta has been establishing a competitive identity that differentiates Parramatta from other locations and increases investment. Over the past four years, Parramatta has grown significantly with growth set to continue into the future. Parramatta’s $14 billion economy is being fuelled by population and jobs growth, with an investment pipeline of $12 billion and counting. The City of Parramatta is undertaking a long term strategic planning and is investing in an eco-efficient urban environment that supports Parramatta’s jobs and residential growth and a range of actions to deliver clean and healthy waterways for the community to enjoy now and into the future . Leadership and governance

On 12 May 2016 a Government proclamation formed a new local government area called the City of Parramatta. The boundaries of the new Council incorporate most of the former Parramatta local government area, (with the exclusion of the Woodville Ward), along with parts of the Hills, Hornsby and Auburn council areas, and a small section of the Holroyd local government area.
