Members of the public are also able to view Council Meetings via the Council Meeting livestream and webcasting page.
Council Meetings will typically be held on the second and fourth Monday of each month.

What is a Council Meeting? Council Meetings are a mechanism for elected Councillors to make decisions regarding policies and programs of the Council to meet the needs of the community.
When are Council Meetings? Council Meetings are generally held every second and fourth Monday of the month, except for the month of January as stipulated in Council’s Code of Meeting Practice.
Council Meeting DatesWhere are Council Meetings? Council Meetings are currently held at St Patrick’s Cathedral (1 Marist Place, Parramatta). Some Extraordinary Meetings are held at alternate locations due to availability.
Council Meeting Locations
Who can attend a Council Meeting? Council Meetings are public meetings and can be attended by anyone. The public are able to view the proceedings of the Council Meeting except for matters being considered during Closed Session. Any decisions made during Closed Session are announced to the public at the end of the Closed Session.
What if I can’t attend a Council Meeting in person? If you are unable to attend a Council Meeting in person you can view the meeting live on Council’s website or view a recording at a later date.
Council Meeting Livestream and archivesWhen will a recording of the Council Meeting be available? A video recording and formal minutes of the Council Meeting will be available on Council’s website five (5) business days after the Council Meeting.
How do I know what will be considered at a Council Meeting? Council publishes its business paper on its website for each Council Meeting on the Tuesday prior to the meeting (6 days prior to the meeting).

Find out how you can participate at a Council Meeting.Who makes decisions at Council Meetings? Those Councillors in attendance at Council Meetings make the decisions of the Council. There are 15 Councillors at the City of Parramatta Council, and a quorum must be met for a meeting to proceed.
A quorum is 8 Councillors in attendance at a Council Meeting. Decisions are made by a majority vote, and in the event that the vote is tied, the Lord Mayor may use a casting vote. A casting vote means the deciding vote.
What is a Division? A division records which Councillors voted for or against a matter. Divisions are required for all planning matters and can be requested by a Councillor for other matters.
What does adjourning a meeting mean? Councillors may vote to adjourn a meeting at any time. Adjourning a meeting can be to pause the meeting for a short break; or can be to pause the meeting to another date and time.
If Councillors move to adjourn a meeting, they must state when the meeting is to resume.
What rules govern the conduct of Council Meetings? The Local Government Act 1993, Local Government (General) Regulation 2005 and Council’s Code of Meeting Practice.
What is an Extraordinary Council Meeting? An Extraordinary Council Meeting is a meeting held outside the normal meeting cycle.
