City of Parramatta Council Appoints New Acting CEO
City of Parramatta Council has voted to appoint Mr Rik Hart as its Acting Chief Executive Officer at an Extraordinary Council Meeting this evening (Wednesday 6 March 2019).
Mr Hart brings more than 20 years of executive leadership experience in State and Local Government in Australia and New Zealand in addition to working for 15 years in the private sector.
He was most recently General Manager at Inner West Council where he oversaw the merger of three councils, and prior to that was General Manager at Warringah Council for 10 years.
"Mr Hart's extensive leadership experience and impressive achievements will ensure that our Council continues to provide our community with high quality services. One of his main objectives in the role will be to oversee the selection process of a new CEO," City of Parramatta Council Lord Mayor Cr Andrew Wilson said.
Mr Hart will commence at Council on Monday 11 March.
City of Parramatta Council voted to terminate the contract of its former CEO at an Extraordinary Council Meeting on Wednesday 20 February 2019.
Due to provisions in the Local Government Act 1993, the current acting CEO Sue Coleman is precluded from continuing in the position as of 10 March. The provisions only allow for an Acting period of 12 months cumulative within a two-year period.
"I would like to thank Sue Coleman for her exemplary leadership throughout her time at Council. Her guidance and dedication to the CEO role has enabled Council to focus on the job at hand. I wish Sue all the best in her next step of her highly successful career." Cr Wilson said.
