Proposed 40kmph speed limits for selected areas in Newington

Proposal to install ‘40km/h High Pedestrian Activity Areas (HPAA)’ and Speed Cushions in selected streets in Newington

City of Parramatta Council is proposing to install ‘40km/h High Pedestrian Activity Areas (HPAA)’ restrictions in the following locations in Newington as listed below and shown below:

  • Avenue of Oceania
  • Avenue of Europe
  • Avenue of Africa
  • Avenue of Americas

To reduce vehicle speed, it is also proposed to install speed cushions in Avenue of Oceania, Avenue of Europe and Avenue of Americas as shown in these sketches.

These locations have been selected as they are high pedestrian activity areas within the Newington retail precinct and provide access to industrial and high-density residential developments. There is also a history of pedestrian injury accidents at these locations.
