The City of Parramatta has been recognised for its outstanding commitment to employee experience, winning the NSW Local Government Professionals Excellence Award in the People, Workplace, Wellbeing category.
The award celebrates the success of People Connect, Council’s four-year HR systems transformation project completed in 2024. The initiative replaced legacy systems with a modern, cloud-based platform, streamlining HR processes and improving accessibility. Since its launch, nearly two-thirds of staff have reported the platform as easy to use for a wide range of people-related activities.
Chief Executive Officer Gail Connolly PSM praised the achievement:
“This award reflects the dedication of our 1,500 staff who work tirelessly to deliver exceptional service to our community. I congratulate all teams involved in making Parramatta a great place to work.”
In addition to the win, Council’s 2023 Health and Wellbeing Action Plan was also a finalist in the same category, highlighting its commitment to fostering positive mental, social, and physical health in the workplace.
“I’m incredibly proud of our staff and their contributions to creating a positive and healthy work environment,” Ms Connolly added. “This recognition reinforces our purpose-led approach to long-term wellbeing for both staff and the community.”
