Parramatta balances the scales for International Women’s Day
Published on 02 March 2026
Parramatta is celebrating International Women’s Day with a vibrant program of community events designed to honour women’s achievements, voices and leadership across the City next month.
Council is running free and ticketed activities throughout March reflecting the theme Balance the Scales – a global call for inclusive, fair and accessible justice for all women and girls.
Residents and visitors can join guided walking tours that uncover powerful stories of women who shaped the City, an inspiring conversation on leadership at Parramatta Library, and a Women in Business Lunch with keynote speaker Michelle Bridges and a panel discussion with women across education, innovation, government and social enterprise.
City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Martin Zaiter said International Women’s Day is a chance to reflect and take action.
“Parramatta is a City shaped by strong women, diverse voices and bold leadership,” Cr Zaiter said.
“International Women’s Day is about recognising progress but also being honest about where we still need to do better.
“Parramatta’s International Women’s Day program invites everyone in the community to keep equality front of mind – not just for one day but for the future of our City.”
The community is also invited to Parramatta Library on Wednesday 4 March to hear a panel discussion looking at how generosity of time, leadership, capital, ideas and care can create meaningful impact not only for others but for ourselves, our organisations and our communities.
The panel features leaders from the world of local government, entrepreneurship and for-purposes businesses.
