HMAS Parramatta Freedom of Entry Parade

**Event Announcement: City of Parramatta Council's Freedom of Entry Parade for the crew of HMAS Parramatta has been cancelled following the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Out of respect for her Late Majesty, the event will not proceed.**

Help us welcome the crew of HMAS Parramatta (IV) home as they parade the through city streets with swords drawn, bayonets fixed, drums beating, band playing and Ensign flying.

Be part of an historical tradition going back hundreds of years and honour the men and women of the Royal Australian Navy and the ship named after our City, HMAS Parramatta.

HMAS Parramatta Freedom of Entry Parade commences at Prince Alfred Square, including the ‘Challenge’ on Lennox Bridge, continues down Church Street and concludes at Parramatta Town Hall.

The City of Parramatta is a proud supporter of our country’s armed forces.

10.30am - 11.45am: Performance by NSW Police Band
11.45am - 12pm: Inspection of the Guard
12pm - 12:30pm: HMAS Parramatta Freedom of Entry Parade commences at Prince Alfred Square, including the ‘Challenge’ on Lennox Bridge, continues down Church Street and concludes at Parramatta Town Hall.

Road Closures

Road closures around the parade route will be in place from 10:00 am - 1:00pm on Friday 9 September 2022. The following roads will be temporarily closed with the assistance of Transport for NSW (Transport) accredited traffic controllers, and the support of local police. Local access to some driveways will be maintained as necessary.

•    Market Street between Marist Place and Church Street
•    Church Street and Palmer Street intersection
•    Phillip Street between Marsden Street and Horwood Place
•    George Street between Marsden Street and Church Street 
•    Macquarie Street between Marsden Street and Church Street
