City of Parramatta and the 1 Million Turtles Program are excited to invite you to Turtle Month at Lake Parramatta on Saturday, 9th November 2024.

Join us for a fun and informative day where you'll learn about freshwater turtles, try your hand at spotting turtles at Parramatta Lake, and discover how you can keep turtles safe in your local area.

The event kicks off at 10:00 AM, followed by a talk from Dr. Ricky Spencer, Program Lead of 1MT, at 10:30 AM. After the talk, join Ricky for a relaxing stroll around the lake as we search for freshwater turtles and have the chance to spot them in their natural habitat. He will also lead a hands-on demonstration on how to protect turtle nests, and sharing ways you can get involved in safeguarding baby turtles. Throughout the event, children and parents can enjoy our art corner, where everyone can sit down and create fun turtle-themed artwork on rocks.

We will also be launching the new Lake Parramatta Field Guide booklet and have lots of information from our Natural Areas Team. We will also have stalls from our FOGO team and the Parramatta River Catchment Group.

Suitable for anyone with an interest in nature of all ages.

This event is family friendly with activities most ages can enjoy however all children ages 18 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult.
