How will I know if my bin collection day is changing?
Residents having changes to their bin days will be notified by a letter in the months leading up to the change, and again by a reminder sticker/tag on their bin in the weeks before.
I’m a new resident of the City of Parramatta, what changes will there be for me?
The changes for our new residents (former Hills, Hornsby, Holroyd or Auburn) vary depending on what council you are from and whether your bin collection day is changing. You will get a letter in the coming months outlining the exact changes affecting your household, and an information calendar explaining all your new waste services in October.
What other waste services does the City of Parramatta offer?
The City of Parramatta offers a variety of waste services, including The Bower Collection and Rehoming Service, E Waste and hazardous collection days, and the Mobile Community Recycling Service. Please see our Other Waste Services page for more information.
Do I get new bins?
If you are moving from a 2 bin (240L garbage & 240L recycle) to a 3 bin system (140L garbage, 240L recycle & 240L garden waste), you will receive a letter regarding the introduction of a 240L Garden Organics bin, with the option of downsizing your 240L Garbage bin to a 140L, or keeping the 240L garbage bin for an extra charge.

What type of waste is accepted in the booked clean up?
You can put out bundled branches (up to 1.5m long), furniture, mattresses and whitegoods. You can’t put out car parts, household rubbish including food scraps, hazardous waste (chemicals, gas bottles, medical waste, paint), building materials, sheet glass including mirrors, tree trunks, thorny bushes, grass or leaves.
Where does the clean up waste go after it gets collected?
Waste from clean ups go to a post sorting facility where some items get recovered and recycled. The remainder goes to landfill.
How many clean-ups do I get?
City of Parramatta residents are entitled to 4 booked clean ups per year, with up to 2 cubic meters of conforming material able to be placed out each time.
