Community support during the Oatlands tragedy

I would like to take this opportunity to extend my deepest sympathies to the friends and families of Antony, Angelina and Sienna Abdallah, and Veronique Sakr, who lost their lives in an accident at Oatlands on Saturday 1 February. I would also like to recognise the efforts of the first responders who dealt with the extremely difficult conditions at the scene.

This devastating event has shaken communities across the country. It has been touching to witness the supportive response from our local community in the aftermath of this heartbreaking tragedy.

Last week, the Maronite community organised a Rosary vigil at the site of the accident. I joined hundreds of locals in paying respects and praying the Rosary for the children and their families.
