Lord Mayor's Message 11 September 2020
Parramatch 2020: Expressions of Interest now open
I’m proud to announce the launch of Parramatch 2020, a Council program to help local not-for-profit organisations raise money for projects that will create lasting positive change for our community.
We’re currently accepting Expressions of Interest from local community groups, not-for-profit organisations and social enterprises and aim to launch five community projects by November 2020. I encourage all eligible organisations to apply.
Successful applicants will receive expert training in pitching ideas, crowdfunding and social media outreach, as well as some financial assistance.
Expressions of Interest are open until 28 September 2020. For more information, and to apply, visit Parramatch expression of interest.
Spring School Holiday program
With the spring school holidays just around the corner, we have a fun-filled program of free and affordable kids’ activities and events on offer. Our program has something to suit all interests and abilities, whether it’s a photography workshop, exploring the natural world, or a sports clinic.
Keeping kids entertained has been challenging with restrictions on sports, after-school gatherings and community events so we are excited to offer in-person activities and outdoor events again, in line with public health guidelines.
I encourage you to register. Our program is very popular so register soon! Events run from 26 September to 11 October.

City of Parramatta Australia Day Awards nominations now open
Each year, the City of Parramatta Australia Day Awards recognise the outstanding achievements of people in our community.
If you know a person or local organisation that has made a difference in the City, nominate them today. They could be a friend, family member or workmate – someone who has made an outstanding contribution to areas such as education, sports, arts and culture, volunteering, leadership, health and welfare. This has been a tough year and it’s so important to recognise, celebrate, and honour our local heroes.
Nominations close at 5pm on Wednesday, 18 November 2020. For more information and to submit an award nomination please visit Australia Day AwardsPhoto: Lord Mayor Cr Bob Dwyer (second left from centre) with previous recipients of the City of Parramatta Australia Day Awards.
