Merry Christmas and happy New Year from City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Bob Dwyer
On behalf of City of Parramatta Council, I would like to wish our community a very merry Christmas and happy New Year.
2020 has truly been a year like no other as we faced the worldwide challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic together. I was proud to see our community show such incredible resilience during these unprecedented times – you have all helped our City to adapt, grow, and become stronger under the most difficult circumstances.
I would also like to acknowledge and thank the wonderful City of Parramatta Council staff who worked hard to continue supporting our community and delivering Council’s essential services throughout a tough and uncertain year. Council will always be here for our people and our City, no matter what the future holds.
Many inspiring stories have emerged from our community this year - from the businesses who adapted to operate under new circumstances to the local community groups and volunteers who helped our City’s most vulnerable people survive the pandemic. I was also touched and inspired to witness our residents looking out for their neighbours and finding new ways to stay connected as a community when we were forced apart. It is thanks to your vigilant efforts that we are able to come together with our friends and loved ones to celebrate this year’s holiday season.
I hope that everyone has a wonderful holiday and has an opportunity to rest and rejuvenate. I encourage you to enjoy all that our City has to offer over this year’s festive period. If you are able, please remember to Go LOCAL and show your support for our local businesses.
As this year comes to a close, we are all hopeful that 2021 will be a fresh start. Have a safe, healthy, and very happy holiday. Merry Christmas and happy New Year.
