Prince Alfred Square Masterplan
The City of Parramatta has developed a masterplan which provides an exciting new vision for Prince Alfred Square in Parramatta. It guides improvements to infrastructure and facilities for events held at the park, whilst protecting and celebrating the significant heritage and providing a higher quality of amenity and functionality for residents and visitors.
Prince Alfred Square is of State archaeological significance relating to the second Parramatta gaol and Australia’s first female factory.
It also contains a number of significant trees and monuments, such as the Parramatta War Memorial (1922), PAS Bandstand (1891), Anderson Water Fountain (1882) and the Gollan Clock (1954). The masterplan aims to increase events capacity whilst minimising impacts on heritage and protecting community recreational use.
