PAC Squad Expectations

Child Protection & Safety

In line with Parramatta Aquatic Centre's Keep Watch and Child Safety policies, all students under 16 years of age are required to have a parent or guardian present poolside at the beginning and end of squad sessions.

Equipment

Personal equipment required:

  • Goggles
  • PAC Squad cap
  • Water bottle
  • Pool buoy
  • Short fins
  • Kickboard

This shows students are prepared to engage in the lesson, equipment used during sessions actively increases performance both in and out of the water, allowing students to further develop and improve technique.

Session Start Time

Ensuring a warmup is completed is integral to not only reduce the risk of injury, but it also aids in working towards and creating an environment that truly fosters the competitive and performance nature of a squad.

When a warmup is missed, there is often difficulty in the completion of the sets, increasing fatigue and decreases technical improvements.

Attending multiple sessions

It is important that students attend the recommended minimum number of sessions each week.

Regular attendance helps swimmers build on their skills and continue improving over time.

  • Stingrays: 2 to 3 sessions per week
  • Sharks: 2 to 3 sessions per week
  • Thunderbolts: 3 to 5 sessions per week

Weather

Our pool temperatures are maintained year-round. Sessions are held in the outdoor 50 metre pool throughout the year, including during colder months and wet weather.

Squads may be moved to the indoor 25 metre pool during severe weather or as operationally required.

Students are encouraged to practise sun-safe habits, such as applying sunscreen before attending sessions.
