Community Gardens
Community gardens help build healthier, stronger, more connected communities. They offer our community the opportunity to plant, grow and harvest produce in a shared setting.
When community gardens are led by the community, they provide inclusive, common ground areas with opportunities for residents to be active and connect with each other over shared interests.
Community gardens also help our community to interact with nature, to reduce their household waste, and to learn and practice skills in a safe and supportive environment. They can be located on different types of land including schools, churches, community centres and public parks.

The City of Parramatta supports community gardens and understands that these require substantial community involvement for planning, decision-making, garden management and day-to-day activities. Establishing and maintaining effective community gardens is encouraged as it significantly increases the wellbeing of individuals and the broader community.
Park Committees and Community Gardens
City of Parramatta encourages community participation in the preservation and protection of our parks and reserves through our voluntary park and reserve committees. Committees may run local working bees, host committee meetings and work with Council for the improvement of the local park and reserves. For more information and if you are passionate about your local park, like to spend time outdoors or are wanting to educate others, please click the plus (+) button next to each Committee and the park they represent below.
Bungaree Community Garden Committee
Bungaree Community Garden is primarily focused on the maintenance and upkeep of the Community Garden located within Ambrose Hallen Park, Toongabbie (18A Derbyshire Avenue). The Community Garden is open to the public every Wednesday and Sunday from 7:30am, finishing with a cup of tea or coffee at approximately 10:00am.

Sherwin Park Community Garden Committee
Sherwin Park Community Garden Committee is primarily focused on the maintenance and upkeep of the Community Garden located within Sherwin Park, North Parramatta (38A Isabella Street). The Community Garden is open to the public every Saturday between 8:00am and 11:00am.

Noller Park Garden Committee
Noller Park Committee is primarily focused on the improvement of Noller Park, located in Parramatta (48 Inkerman Street). They also participate in the upkeep of the Park by performing working bees approximately once every two months.
