Park and Reserve Hire
Council's parks and reserves provide a wonderful opportunity for residents and visitors to participate in a wide range of social, recreational, community and cultural activities.
Council’s parks and reserves are available for hire, for a range of uses, including one-off events and organised sport.
Our spaces are in high demand and need to be well-managed to ensure that we can continue to provide high quality, safe and reliable fields and facilities on an ongoing basis.

Playgrounds, BBQ and Picnic Facilities
Please be advised that playgrounds and BBQ/picnic facilities cannot be reserved.
BBQ and picnic facilities are available for social gatherings for free or under on a first come first served basis.
Users are responsible for cleaning the hotplates after use, out of respect for the next users.
Organised Activities
To ensure community land is managed effectively and safeguarded against potential damage, user conflict and any adverse effects to the residential amenity, any organised activity in the City of Parramatta's parks and reserves require the express permission from Council's booking office.
Seasonal Hire
More than 100 sports clubs and associations, with over 10,000 participants, use Council’s 80 playing fields and hard courts every year under seasonal hire arrangements.
To be eligible for seasonal hire, sporting clubs must comply with the Sportsground Allocation Policy.
Before the start of each season, clubs must express their interest in hiring a field at one of Council's sportsground allocation meetings.
If successful, each club must sign a licence agreement where they agree to abide by the terms and conditions of hire.
With the increasing demand for the use of Council's sporting grounds from current clubs, Council is unable to guarantee the availability of grounds to newly-formed clubs or the possibility of increasing an existing club's allocation.
To promote fair and shared access to Council Sportsgrounds for hire, Council will generally arrange allocations for hire of its Sportsgrounds on a non-exclusive, seasonal basis, for a single, specified period, as follows:
- Winter Season: first weekend of April for a minimum 21 weeks.
- Summer Season: third weekend of September for a minimum 26 weeks (inclusive of Christmas holiday period).
- Winter Pre-Season: 1st of March to the start of Winter Season.
- Summer Pre-Season: 1st of August to the start of Summer Season.
- Off-Season: Maximum of 6 weeks between 1 November to 31 December and maximum of 6 weeks between 1 May to 30 June.
Seasonal dates are subject to the requirement for a minimum two-week rest period between seasons to allow for a change in sporting field configuration and sports field maintenance.
Synthetic Sporting Fields
To maximise the use and performance of Council’s synthetic sporting fields, visitors and users are required to abide by the following conditions when using the field:
- No smoking
- No chewing gum
- No food and drinks other than water
- No glass or sharp objects
- No BBQs/ fires
- No dogs/ animals
- No heavy items, including exercise equipment
- No pegs and stakes
- No tables and chairs
- No vehicles, including cars and bikes
Moulded studs or dimpled astroturf trainers are recommended on these fields.
Metal studs are prohibited, with flat-soled trainers as they flatten the synthetic grass, causing long-term damage.
School Hire
Both local and non-local schools wanting to use Council's sports fields for school sport must use Council’s online booking platform.
For schools looking to hold a school athletics carnival, Barton Park is the most suitable location and an application form must be submitted for Council's assessment.
