Ferry closure in October 2025

Due to work on Transport for NSW’s Parramatta Light Rail (Stage 2) project, ferry services will be cancelled on weekends in October. Buses will replace ferry services between Sydney Olympic Park Wharf and Parramatta Wharf, including Rydalmere Wharf. For more information on see October ferry closures page.

Parramatta Station connects to locations across metropolitan Sydney. It's approximately a 30-minute train ride from Sydney's Town Hall. Nearby stations include Harris Park and Westmead.

Parramatta Light Rail (Stage 1)

Parramatta Light Rail services (L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line) connects Westmead to Carlingford via the Parramatta CBD and Camellia. Services run as frequently as 7-8 minutes during weekdays, and 10-11 minutes on weekends. 

The track spans 12km and offers 16 light rail stops. Services run seven (7) days a week between 5am and 1am. Passengers can easily travel to the:

The Parramatta Light Rail service is accompanied by a 5.7km walking and riding path between Boundary Rd in Carlingford and Tramway Avenue in Parramatta.

Taxi Ranks

The main taxi rank near Parramatta Railway Station is located in front of the City of Parramatta Library on Fitzwilliam Street, between Fire Horse Lane and Wentworth Street.

This is a secure taxi rank, staffed by security guards from 10pm to 4am on Friday and Saturday nights and managed by Transport for NSW.
