Council’s Food Services team delivers several food-related services to help aged, disabled or frail community members maintain healthy bodies and minds.

Meals on Wheels™

Council’s Meals on Wheels™ service delivers nutritional meals to customers in their homes across the City of Parramatta.

What sort of meals are served via Meals on Wheels™

Our home delivered meals under Parramatta Food Services Meal on Wheels™ are prepared to meet nutritional guidelines.

Our meals on offer are nutritionally balanced to offer the correct proportions of protein, calcium and fats to keep ageing bodies healthy. The importance of eating three meals a day and maintaining your fluid intake is vital to good health.

Meals can be personalised to suit most dietary requirements, including modified textures and are culturally diverse. 

Customers receive delivered pre-packaged frozen meals that can include a:

  • Main Meal
  • Soup or Dessert
  • Juice

Additional main meals, soups, desserts and juices can be purchased as requested.

All food supplied is purchased pre-packaged by City of Parramatta Council from a third party supplier.

Council relies on the food labelling information provided to it by the supplier.

When are meals delivered?

Deliveries are Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday between the hours of 8:30am to 11:30am each morning.

What about allergies?

You must advise Council of any allergies or dietary requirements. It is your responsibility to check the food label before consuming the product.

Council is not responsible for any adverse reactions, injury, loss or damage arising from the food supplied.

Who is eligible for this service?

To access the service you need to have a My Aged Care referral for Meal Preparation and Delivery for either Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) or Support at Home (formerly Home Care Package).

You may also be able to access this service through your National Disability Insurance Scheme package.

Let's Dine Out

Let's Dine Out provides the opportunity for community members to enjoy healthy and freshly cooked food at one of the City of Parramatta’s much-loved local restaurants.

Customers can purchase Let’s Dine Out vouchers from $9.60 that can be redeemed at participating food venues to the value of $15.

Customers will be able to select from a variety of delicious fresh meal options for breakfast, lunch and dinner to enjoy at the following participating food venues. The participating restaurants have been selected because of their accessibility and provision of healthy food.

We also offer the option to join a small group to dine out for lunch and meet new friends.

Who is eligible?

This program is available for people currently registered with My Aged Care to receive meals under the Commonwealth Home Support Program.

To be eligible for the group lunch, you must have a Meals referral and Social Support Individual referral from My Aged Care.

How do I get the vouchers?

If you would like to dine out and have a referral from My Aged Care, please register your interest by calling the Community Care Team on (02) 9806 5121.

What about allergies?

It is your responsibility to advise the restaurant of any allergies or dietary requirements prior to ordering a meal at the restaurant.

Council is not responsible for any adverse reactions, injury, loss or damage arising from your participation in Let’s Dine Out.

Social Lunch Program

Parramatta Social Lunch Program offers a service designed for customers who require extra support and social interaction at mealtimes.

Customers are matched with a volunteer to enjoy lunch and friendly conversation together in their own home. (To be eligible for the Social Lunch Program, you must have a Meals referral and Social Support Individual referral from My Aged Care).
