Representative Sports Grant
Applications for the 2026–2027 Representative Sports Grant Program are now open and will close on 20th June 2027.
This category is designed to support people (i.e. athletes, coaches, umpires, referees and team managers) who are excelling at sport and representing Parramatta at a State, National or International level. The key objectives of this grant include:
- Reduce financial pressure on individuals and families presented by excelling in representative sport.
- Role modelling active lifestyles and fair play to the Parramatta community.
- Promote and develop athlete pathways.
- Leverage off/disseminate knowledge and experience with other athletes;
- Develop leaders to promote participation pathways in their chosen sport or recreation field.
Eligibility
Check that the sport you are competing with has been approved by Sport Australia before completing an application form. If the sport is not approved by Sport Australia, your application will be ineligible. Check your sport approval at Sport Australia.
Supporting Documents Required
All provided documents must clearly show the applicant’s name and residential address.
Documents must be submitted in a clear, legible format with all pages complete and readable.

Applicants must submit two separate documents to demonstrate residency within the City of Parramatta LGA over a continuous 12‑month period.
This must include one current bill, and one bill dated more than 12 months prior for any one of the of the following categories:
Homeowners
- Council or Water Rates Notice
Tenants/Renters
- Utility bill (e.g. water, electricity, gas) and
- Residential lease or rental agreement and
- Proof of two rent payments (e.g. agent receipts or bank statements)
If you are unable to provide the required documentation, please contact the Grants Team before lodging your application.

If the applicant is under 18, a parent or legal guardian must apply and provide evidence of their relationship to the child (e.g. birth certificate, guardianship papers, or Medicare card).
- Proof of event registration fees (and where applicable, evidence that these have been paid)
- Event invitation letter and evidence of your acceptance
- Evidence of travel costs (e.g. flights, accommodation bookings, fuel receipts, or distance calculations)
- Tax invoices or receipts for any other costs associated with attending the competition (e.g. uniform costs)

The following documents are not sufficient as standalone evidence and must be provided together with one of the acceptable documents listed under Residential Evidence.
- Driver’s licence
- Proof of Age Card/Student Card
- Medicare card
- School letters or ID cards
- Bank cards without address history
- Written receipts

Available Funding
For the 2025/26 Financial Year, the funding pool for the Representative Sports Grant program is $45,000. Applicants are eligible to receive funding to cover 50% of participant expenses up to the maximum level set for different levels of competition, as detailed below.

City of Parramatta Council will only fund one application over a financial year, regardless of the number of applications received from an organisation.
Program Timelines
Applications are open all year round.
Applicants must submit their application 4 weeks before the start date of the sport event or no later than 4 weeks after the end date of the sport event. The assessment and approval process can take longer than 5 weeks resulting in applicants being notified of a funding decision after the event has occurred.
