Slopes and Gradients
Under Australian Standards AS 1428.1, for any ramp longer than 1.9 metres, the maximum slope ratio for a ramp to be accessible is 1:14. The slope ratio is the relationship between a vertical rise and horizontal run. A 1:14 slope means for every 1mm of vertical rise, the ramp extends 14mm horizontally. A gentler slope of 1:20 is easier to use and recommended, but requires more space. For more guidance on accessible ramps, head to the Australia Network on Disability.
Hidden Disabilities Sunflower
A green Sunflower lanyard, badge or wristband indicates the wearer has one or more hidden disabilities, and it asks you to give a bit more time, space and kindness. Council supports the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower initiative to promote inclusive customer service.

Assistance Animals
People with trained Assistance Animals have the legal right across Australia to enter all public places - such as shops, restaurants and public events - use public transport and commercial transport services (taxis and rideshare). These rights are established under the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA 1992), and the NSW Companion Animals Act 1998 sets the requirements for training and Pet Registry in NSW.
