Dharug Circle
Dharug Circle, located in Parramatta Square, is a place of reverence and reflection. It is a space where cultural practices continue, despite changes that have happened to Ngurra (Country).
The Dharug Circle reflects the ongoing connection between Ancestors, people, and land. Hearths found in this area speak to deep traditions of gathering, sharing knowledge, and ceremony.
Ngurrawa yiyura – Country and people are one.
Everyone is invited to sit, rest, and reflect. This is a place to think, to heal, to contemplate, and to share individually or in community.
Ngarra – Listen. Pay attention.
When Dharug people gather here, it is not just an open space - it is a living place of cultural significance. Whether you witness ceremony or not, know that this space is to be treated with care and respect.
You may witness a smoking ceremony, an ancient practice of cleansing and respect.
Show respect by keeping this space clean. Cleansing and care are part of Dharug practice.
Yanma madyi – Walk gently
