Food Businesses
Food businesses are a major part of the City of Parramatta’s renowned cultural and lifestyle offering.
Council works to ensure these businesses follow good food hygiene and handling practices to protect customer safety.
All local businesses that serve food to the public are regulated by Council and the NSW Food Authority.
Council's roles and responsibilities include:
- Regulating existing food businesses
- Approving new food businesses; and
- Providing advice to, and monitoring, food business hygiene practices.
Food Business Registration
Temporary Food Outlets
Temporary food or drink outlets are typically located at time-limited events, such as local fairs or markets.
If you want to sell, or provide, food and drink this way, you will need to be registered by Council. This registration is required irrespective of whether the event is run by Council, or another party.
You can seek registration approval at this link.
