About Councillor Dr Hayley French

Councillor Dr. Hayley French was elected to the City of Parramatta Council in October 2024, proudly representing the North Rocks Ward including:

  • Winston Hills
  • North Rocks
  • Parts of Northmead and Carlingford

Cr Dr Hayley French currently serves as a:

  • Member of Customer, Community and Culture Committee
  • Chair of Social, Sustainability & Inclusion Advisory Panel
  • Chair of Cultural Advisory Panel

Cr Dr French brings over a decade of experience in the local arts and culture sector, including six years with the Community and Culture team at Council, where she worked in roles such as Curator for Parramatta Artists Studios and Cultural Services Coordinator. 

Holding a PhD in Contemporary Australia Painting, Cr Dr French is a scholar-artist and civic advocate whose interdisciplinary practice weaves painting, writing and curatorial work into a socially engage network rooted in Western Sydney suburbia. Her research and activism focus on themes of place-making, memory, landscape and cultural belonging. 

Cr Dr French is passionate about connecting people with arts, culture and community services. Her vision for Parramatta includes a connected and informed community, affordable living with transport connectivity, a resilient environment, and abundant local opportunities. She is committed to listening to the community, collaborating with transparency, and acknowledging the Dharug people as the Traditional Custodians of the land. She celebrates the richness of Parramatta’s diverse communities and together, they form the heart of our city’s identity and strength.
