Priorities for filling vacant places

Prioritisation is managed in strict compliance with the following guidelines:

  • Priority 1 - a child at risk of serious abuse or neglect
  • Priority 2 - a child of a single parent who satisfies, or of parents who both satisfy, the work/training/study test under section 14 of 'A New Tax System (Family Assistance) Act 1999'.
  • Priority 3 - any other child.

Within each category of priority, the following children are given priority:

  • children in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families
  • children in families which include a disabled person
  • children in families which include an individual whose taxable income % under clause 7 of Schedule 2 to the Family Assistance Act is 100%
  • children in families with a non-English speaking background
  • children in socially isolated families
  • children of single parents.

Expectant parents

Expectant parents can place the child's name on the waiting list indicating the expected delivery date. Births must be confirmed by the parents. Anticipated pregnancies cannot be listed.

Waitlist

Registering for our waiting lists is easy, just click on the centre you wish you enrol your child to.

Enrolment

If a childcare spot becomes available and you're next on the waiting list, our centre coordinator will contact you to arrange a time for you and your child to come in for an interview.

Interview

At the interview we'll provide you with information on:

  • how the centre operates
  • what the centre provides for your child
  • what you need to provide for your child in care.

The coordinator will also provide you with a copy of the Parent Information Handbook.

Accepting a spot

To accept the available spot, you'll need to complete an enrolment form and pay a security bond equivalent to one week’s full fees, plus one week’s full fee payment in advance.

Documents

You'll need to bring your:

  • completed enrolment form
  • child’s birth certificate
  • parents' birth certificates
  • child immunisation record
  • proof of residential address
  • payment.

Child care benefit

If you wish to claim a childcare benefit from Services Australia, the coordinator will provide you with the Centre’s service provider number for you to use on the Services Australia application and claim form.
