Demolitions

Demolitions will require a Development Application (DA). A DA can be lodged on the NSW Planning Portal. On this portal, a guide to the DA Process can also be found.

Demolition of a building or structure constructed under exempt development standards may be considered exempt if it meets the criteria in the State Environmental Planning Policy (Exempt and Complying Development Codes) 2008. Such as the property not being heritage listed or in a heritage conservation area, for example.

Furthermore, when a building has been severely damaged by bushfire demolition may be considered exempt. This is outlined in Subdivision 13 of State Environmental Planning Policy (Exempt and Complying Development Codes).
