Bushcare Volunteer

Council supports local volunteers who care for bushcare sites and reserves.

Bushcare volunteering is fun and a great way to keep fit and meet new people. It also helps deliver tremendous environmental benefits for our precious local area and create homes for wildlife.

You can register to be a volunteer through Council’s online volunteer scheduling platform. You’ll need to create a new account if you’re registering for the first time.

In this video, see Council volunteers and staff talk about the rewards of being a bushcare volunteer.

Bushcare sites

There are bushcare sites right across the City of Parramatta, as shown on the map below:

Become a part of something bigger than yourself by joining a local bushcare group. Register to be a volunteer through our online volunteer scheduling program, Rosterfy, or click on the links below to find out more.

Why should I join?

Involvement with bushcare not only allows you to give back to the environment, but also supports you to:

  • Learn about your local, natural environment
  • Meet new, like-minded people
  • Learn new skills
  • Boost your mental health by getting outdoors and staying active.

You do not need any special skills to be a Bushcare volunteer. All training and tools are provided by a professional site supervisor.

What do Bushcare volunteers do?

Bushcare volunteer groups assist with:

  • Weed removal
  • Habitat restoration
  • Planting and watering of native plants
  • Fauna monitoring

You can learn more about what our volunteers do in our Bushcare Volunteer Charter(PDF, 4MB).
