Program Overview

The City of Parramatta is the largest provider of free school holiday programs in NSW with over 4000 children per year taking part in a variety of exciting physical and educational programs and workshops.

The objectives of the school holidays program are:

  • To provide free and inclusive 'taster' sport and recreation programs for children ages 5 to 18 within the Parramatta LGA.
  • To encourage and promote healthy active lifestyles.
  • To link participants to local sports and recreation services.

We aim to make our school holiday programs 100% accessible to children of all abilities. All programs are organised by trained facilitators who can deliver activities that respond to children with various needs.

    Summer 2026 Holiday Program 

    Registrations will open on Wednesday January 7, 2026, at 7pm

    Active Parramatta’s Holiday Program will commence on Monday January 12 and will conclude on Friday January 23, 2026.

    Parents are welcome to email recreation@cityofparramatta.nsw.gov.au if they would like to be added to our mailing list to receive reminder notices about our holiday program.

    School Holiday Program Guidelines 

    Please review the key guidelines to enhance your registration and attendance experience:

    • Registration: Children will require a valid registration to attend and participate in the school holiday classes. Placement on the waiting list does not guarantee that your child will be able to participate due to class size ratios.
    • Class Registration Limits: Each child may enrol in up to four classes per week. Duplicate bookings for overlapping and conflicting timeslots or multiple sessions of the same class (e.g., Tennis, Skateboarding) are not permitted and are subject to being cancelled by Council.
    • Age Group Accuracy: Ensure you register your children in the age-appropriate classes. Providing incorrect information will result in the booking being cancelled and your child not being able to participate in the class. This also places the insurance policy of Council's and our providers at significant risk if the incorrect information is provided.
    • Waiver Requirements: Select classes (e.g. Aerial Enchantment, Skateboarding, Jiu Jitsu) may require signed waivers. Please allow for extra time to complete the necessary form.
    • Parent Supervision: A parent or guardian is required to be checked in by council staff and remain onsite for the duration of each class. Drop offs are not allowed.
    • Punctuality:  Please arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the class to check in with Council staff.
    • Cancellations: If you are unable to attend, please cancel your booking via Bookable or email recreation@cityofparramatta.nsw.gov.au. Failure to do so can result in exclusion from booking into classes the following school holiday period.
    • Additional Support Needs: Children of all abilities are well welcome. Please indicate if your child requires additional support to ensure appropriate accommodation can be provided. This information remains confidential between Council staff and the instructors.
    • What to Bring: Children should dress appropriately (no thongs or crocs), bring water, and apply sunscreen.
    • Allergy Awareness: Please do not bring snacks containing peanuts or eggs to maintain a safe environment for all participants.
    • Program Changes: Notifications of changes or cancellations will be sent via email and text.

    • Active Parramatta is one of many departments that run school holiday programs. We have different timeframes which can be confusing for customers. We recommend checking on the bookable page to identify who the Event organiser is or email council@cityofparramatta.nsw.gov.au
