Hazardous wastes are wastes with properties that make them dangerous or potentially harmful to human health or the environment, and cannot be placed in your bins or council clean ups.
Parramatta and Cumberland City Councils have launched a Mobile Community Recycling Service, which provides residents with a free and easy way to recycle household hazardous wastes, including:
Residents must book a pick up on the Problem Waste website, or contact Council on 1300 617 058.
Only household quantities will be accepted in 20kg or 20L maximum container sizes.
Another safe way to dispose of potentially hazardous household chemicals is at a Household Chemical Clean Out event. These events are free services held across NSW on specified dates.
Alternatively, you can check out one of the permanent Community Recycling Centres near you and drop off an acceptable range of NSW Environmental Protection Authority mandated wastes.
