"I always go for what I believe and what I need. My advice would be: don’t give up!"

I live in the Parramatta area and attend services at City of Parramatta Council. I am a member of a Peer Support group. I made good friends with other Peer Support group members. We dine together, go to the movies, play tenpin bowling and do karaoke.

My favourite is fine dining (I like good food) and karaoke because I love music and singing. My favourite Australian female singer is Tina Arena.

I used to be a part of Dance Group and we even made it to the Special Olympics. I like to travel. My mum and I have been to China, Japan, Thailand, England, Germany, Italy and Sri Lanka.

I also work 4 days a week at MacDonald’s as a cleaner. I like my job. I travel to work by myself in the bus. I take two buses to reach my work.

I mostly make decisions to my day-to-day activities independently. I believe in my abilities. I ask for help and remind people when I need support. I take control of my needs. I ask people who are there to help me -- so I know I am doing the right thing.

Using technology has been challenging for me recently. My Peer Support has gone online. I had to learn how to use my iPad with my mum’s help and the support of community workers.  I am now able to participate in my online Peer Support Group sessions.

I have the challenge of making the right decision in my life but I do not give up. I ask people I trust to help me achieve what I am planning. I always go for what I believe and what I need. My advice would be: don’t give up!
