What is a Park Masterplan?
In essence, park masterplans are park concept plans which show the preferred future park layout, including any embellishments. All of Council’s park masterplans have taken into consideration community feedback, community needs, and site context.
Why are they important?
Masterplans are important as they help to demonstrate community support for larger projects (which is often needed when applying for grants) and they also allow Council to prioritise upgrades accordingly.
Aim
Masterplans aim to optimise the use of public open space for the local and broader community through functional park design and provision of safe and accessible facilities and amenities. They aim to ‘future-proof’ the park as they take into consideration current and future community demands and needs and by providing a plan of action to Council. They aim to maximise recreational opportunities whilst protecting important environmental and cultural values.
