Great cities offer a lot to see and do. Vibrant and activated streets are important for people, cities and neighbourhood precincts, and can play a key role in delivering Parramatta as Australia’s Next Great City.
The City of Parramatta seeks to encourage appropriate activity in our streets and public domain which can positively engage with residents, visitors and workers. The City will encourage high quality activities while regulating the quality of the experience in its public areas.
The City has created procedures for applicants who seek to use the public domain. The City has adopted five guiding principles for street activities: appropriate location, engaging and high quality, safety and accessibility, public amenity and, management and operations. Council will use these principles to guide applicants to deliver safe and high quality activation.
Across the Local Government Area, the public domain includes our streets, footpaths, laneways, malls, squares and Council car parks throughout the Parramatta Local Government Area (LGA). Individuals, organisations and businesses may apply to offer a street activity in a wide range of categories including busking, leaflets, promotion and food vendors.
