Travelling to Parramatta
There are so many ways to get to Parramatta, a well-connected city served by bus, train and ferry
Parramatta is just 24 kilometres from the Sydney CBD and is easily accessed by express train or by Parramatta Road/M4 freeway, Victoria Road, Cumberland Highway or Windsor Road.
Catch the bus
The city is served by buses to the interchange near Parramatta Station. Bus routes connect Parramatta with other Sydney destinations like Castle Hill, Hornsby, Ryde, Strathfield and the Sydney city centre.
City shuttle bus
It’s easy to get around on the free CBD shuttle bus route that does a loop around the Parramatta CBD from to the Transport interchange. Every 10 minutes and takes 25 minutes to complete. This service runs 7 days a week. Weekdays 7:00am to 6:30pm and Weekends 8:00am to 4:00pm. Highlights along the route include Macquarie Street, Church Street, the ferry wharf, Phillip Street and O’Connell Street.
Ride the train
Parramatta Station connects to locations all around metro Sydney. It’s a 30-minute ride from Sydney’s Town Hall to Parramatta. There are stations at nearby Harris Park and Westmead, too.
Hop on the ferry
Ferries run between Circular Quay and Parramatta Wharf.
Parramatta Wharf upgrade
Parramatta Wharf has been upgraded and will reopen on Friday 11 October 2019.
The wharf upgrade is part of the NSW Government’s Transport Access Program – an initiative to deliver modern, safe and accessible transport infrastructure across the state. The upgrade to Parramatta Wharf will help improve safety, accessibility and comfort for customers and make boarding and disembarking quicker and easier.
F3 Parramatta River ferry services will resume from 6:24am on Friday 11 October from Parramatta Wharf. The temporary bus service, route 60F3, to Rydalmere Wharf will no longer operate. For timetable and service information, visit the Transport for NSW website or call Transport Info on 131 500.
