Summary of Council Decisions: 8 August 2022 Ordinary Council Meeting

Here is a summary of the discussions (Date: 8 August 2022):

  1. Council acknowledged the passing of Val Squires and held a minute’s silence as a gesture of respect. (Item 8.1)
     
  2. Council acknowledged the passing of Ian Hawthorn, agreed to write to the NSW Lancers Memorial Museum offering condolences and held a minute’s silence as a gesture of respect. (Item 8.2)
     
  3. Council acknowledged Indian Independence Day on 15 August. (Item 8.3)
     
  4. Council noted Parramatta Lanes Festival received a RH Dougherty Award for Innovation in special events, congratulated the events team and all other Council staff. (Item 8.4)
     
  5. Council noted the Federal Government is conducting a feasibility study into the relocation of the SBS headquarters to Western Sydney and agreed for the Lord Mayor to write to federal and state members of parliament on the matter. (Item 8.5)
     
  6. Council noted the official launch of Being Together: Parramatta Yearbook and agreed for he Lord Mayor to write to the Director of the Museum of Contemporary Art with congratulations. (Item 8.6)
     
  7. Council noted the Homelessness Action Plan 2019-2023 Mid-Term Report. (Item 12.1)
     
  8. Council approved the minutes for the 11 July 2022 Council Meeting. (Item 13.1)
     
  9. Council amended the fees and charges for telecommunications facilities to require a valuation to be undertaken at the applicant’s cost on each occasion a new agreement is entered into for the operation of a telecommunications facility on Council’s land. (Item 13.2)
     
  10. Council appointed Charlene Borderley, Linda Gock, Mark Green, Angela Hansford, Pam Kendrick, Martin Lugod, Paul MacDonald, Muhammad Sukhera, Catherine Unwin, Andrew Watson, Ian Weekes and Matt Zahra to the Active Transport Advisory Committee. (Item 13.4)
     
  11. Council appointed Jeff Allen, Cheryl Bates, Laurie Bennett, Raelene Billedo, Michele Grande, Scott Hill, Steve Kane, Julie Jones, Wei Li, Stephanie Licciardo, Suzette Meade, Tim Owen, Graham Shirley and Terrence Smith to the Heritage Advisory Committee. (Item 13.6)
     
  12. Council approved for the 2023 annual application round of the 2023 Community Grants to proceed. (Item 13.8)
     
  13. Council noted the variations to standards under clause 4.6 of the Parramatta LEP 2011, Auburn LEP 2010, Holroyd LEP 2013, The Hills LEP 2012 and Hornsby LEP 2013. (Item 12.2)
     
  14. Council appointed Jayne Boardman, Leone Clarke, Kanisha Diwakar, Scott Green, Timothy Hart, Mark Kunach, Emily Mahendran and Susan Thompson to the Access Advisory Committee. Council also appointed Raelene Billedo, Jayne Christian, Marlene Corbett, Edwina Crawford, Luke Eldridge, Andrew Fernando, Ros Fogg, Bruce Gale, Julie Jones, Fetuuloa Lolesio, Cleonie Quayle, Isaac Roberts and John Robertson to the First Nations Advisory Committee. (Item 13.3)
     
  15. Council appointed Adriana Genova, Alexi Gilchrist, Alexandria Moore, Annie Nielsen, Crystal Fleming, Julia Strykowski, Marina Gilmore, Mark Green, Melissa Brooks and Murray Sayle to the Environment Advisory Committee. (Item 13.5)
     
  16. Council approved the City of Parramatta’s Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2022-2026. (Item 13.7)
     
  17. Council deferred consideration of the Final Draft Late Night Development Control Plan (DCP) to an immediate Councillor workshop. (Item 13.9)
     
  18. Council deferred consideration of the Arthur Phillip Commemorative Public Art Project – Charles Street Square for eight (8) weeks to enable business consultation to occur and a further report to be brought back to Council. (Item 13.10)
     
  19. Council endorsed amendments to the Councillors Workshop and Briefing Session Policy and Procedure. (Item 14.1)
     
  20. Council approved an increase in the budget to deliver the current design concept for 7PS. (Item 16.1)
     
  21. Council approved the appointment of the preferred proponent for the provision of Network Carriage and Software-Defined Wide-Area Network (SD-WAN) Managed Services. (Item 16.2)
