Flood Big Ideas is big. Huge! Make sure you have your say
Flood Big Ideas is perhaps one of the biggest flood projects ever. Council’s investigating large-scale flood infrastructure that, if built, could reduce flooding in our City by up to 66cm.
There are three concept designs to review, one for North Rocks, Toongabbie, and the Parramatta CBD, with advantages and disadvantages for each.
They’re big ideas and they cost big bucks, but there are big benefits to. See our Flood Big Ideas project page and have your say before 5pm Friday 30 January 2026.
FloodSmart Parramatta is a joint Council and NSW Government program which brings the community and government agencies together to understand, and plan for, flood risks in the City of Parramatta.
Through the FloodSmart Parramatta program, you are able to:
View frequently asked questions about flooding issues.
FloodSmart Parramatta is provided by the City of Parramatta in partnership with NSW Government’s State Emergency Service, Office of Environment and Heritage and Sydney Water, and the Australian Government’s Bureau of Meteorology.
The service uses technology developed by consultants Royal HaskoningDHV and Nelen & Schuurmans.
Flood Warning Service
