Parramatta River Transformation

Eastern Parramatta River and CBD Precinct Connections

Based on a vision of providing more public access to the Parramatta foreshore and offering a picturesque riverside journey from many CBD visitor destinations, the Eastern Parramatta River and CBD Precinct Connections Project will capitalise on the popularity of the Parramatta Valley Cycleway and deliver 2.8km of separated walking and cycling paths alongside the Parramatta River.

This exciting project will provide the community with wide separate paths for pedestrians and bike riders, along with scenic rest stops and viewing platforms.

The project will also improve accessibility and safety, with upgrades at crossings and new eco-sensitive lighting in select locations.

Upgrades will be provided at Rangihou Reserve and Baludarri Wetlands in Parramatta; Reid Park, Rydalmere; Royal Shores, Ermington; and George Kendall Reserve West, Rydalmere.

Planned for completion in 2027, this $9 million project is funded by the Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program, in association with City of Parramatta.
Key features of the project include:

George Kendall Reserve West

  • Separated pedestrian and cyclist paths for 275m through the park with tree planting.

Royal Shores Ermington

  • Separate pedestrian path for 850m and new lightweight bridge over western creek.

Reid Reserve

  • Separated pedestrian and cyclist paths for 300m through the park.

Baludarri Wetlands
