On-street parking set to go cashless in Parramatta CBD

On-street parking meters in the Parramatta’s CBD will be cashless from April 1 with workers, students and visitors who travel to the CBD set to benefit from a more streamlined parking payment system – no need to look for loose change, just wave and pay.

Across the CBD, 23 machines at locations on George, Grose, Hunter, Phillip and Sorrell Streets will be replaced with a new cashless machine. Once complete, all 224 parking meters in the CBD will be converted to cashless.

City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Pierre Esber said these changes will make parking services more efficient and easier for people visiting the CBD.

“We know that more people are choosing to tap and go for more payments since we started shifting our parking meters over to cashless two years ago. In the past 12 months, about 94% of parking meter payments were made via mobile or card,” Cr Esber said.

“Removing coin payments makes sense, we know how frustrating it is when parking meters get jammed so this will reduce parking meter faults and create an easier experience when parking in the CBD.”

All cashless parking meters will accept payment via the EasyPark app or Visa, Mastercard, and AMEX.
