Silverwater’s Newington Reserve set for $17.5 million reconstruction

A $17.5 million total transformation of Silverwater’s newest emerging community premium facility, Newington Reserve, has been given the green light to proceed with final designs to be decided in the coming months.

The brand-new ground will feature state-of-the-art football fields, improved lighting, spectator seating, park furniture, electric barbecues, outdoor exercise equipment and additional garden beds and shade tree planting.

A sports pavilion building with change rooms, toilets, a kiosk and storage will also be built. It will feature unisex and inclusive facilities, including parent/child change spaces and official areas, making it accessible for everyone.

City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Pierre Esber said it’s a big win for Silverwater.

“This will be an amazing sports and community facility,” Cr Esber said.

“Players, spectators and even schools will all benefit from this revolutionary project.

“Whether you want to be the next Socceroo or Matilda or just want to keep fit, Newington Reserve will be the ground everyone wants to play at.

“I thank the NSW Government for the funding which will help make this transformation possible.”

The synthetic field will be ahead of its class, utilising the world’s most cutting-edge construction techniques with elements such as organic infill, a dual yarn system to help control heat and vertical drainage system with extra tree canopy.

The $17.5 million Newington Reserve upgrade has been jointly funded with $11.5 million in funding from City of Parramatta Council; $6 million from the NSW Office of Sport and $20,000 from Football NSW.
