The City of Parramatta recognises that people have a right to be informed and to have a say on projects that are important to them or which have an impact on their daily lives.

Community engagement gives Council a better understanding of community views and values and helps to make more informed decisions and deliver better services. We are committed to engaging everyone in our community about the things that matter to them, in a transparent, open and accountable way.

Our revised Draft Community Engagement Strategy guides how Council will engage with everyone in the community.

We have updated our strategy to incorporate requirements under the Environmental Planning & Assessment Act 1979 (the EP&A Act). Under the EP&A Act, planning authorities such as Councils must outline how and when they will engage the community about planning functions like policy-making and assessment.

Our draft strategy covers non-planning matters too and has also been developed according to requirements set out in the Local Government Act 1993.

It details how Council will engage with the community, and how you can have a say on projects that impact you or that you’re interested in.

We value input from the community and stakeholders. This Community Engagement Strategy will hold Council to account as it helps us to create more liveable communities, better public policy, and ensures people are at the core of what we do.
