Over 55s activities, ageing & wellness

Over 55s leisure and learning

COVID 19: Due to the uncertainties presented by COVID-19,  individual and group face-to-face activities are currently on hold.

City of Parramatta puts the safety of it's community, staff, volunteers and tutors. To do this, we continue to follow the advice of NSW Health in the delivery of our activities and operation of facilities during COVID-19.

City of Parramatta's over 55s leisure and learning service provides an extensive range of educational, physical, recreational and social activities throughout the year for people over 55 years of age; from Tai Chi to pilates and knitting to painting, there's something for everyone to enjoy whilst making new friends in a fun and lively environment.

Trained volunteers

Trained volunteers assist our staff with day to day operations and also run a number of activities offered. Volunteer roles include reception, tutoring, group activity assistance and proving community information.

From July 2019, activities will be run on a term based model with bookings and payments being made prior to the beginning of each term.

Participants are required to fill in a registration form so they can attend any of the activities offered at various locations.

Types of activities include:

  • term based
  • bus outings (currently suspended)
  • free social activities
  • walking groups
  • and more

Fees are reviewed annually for City of Parramatta's schedule of fees and charges (section 6.2, pages 14-15) and are based on your Pension and Commonwealth Health Care Card status.

Activity Fees
Term based activities (usually a 10 week term) from $43.00 including GST
Bus outings – currently suspended $25.00 including GST
Massage (remedial) – currently suspended
Social activities and walking groups Free

In response to the current circumstances presented by COVID-19, many events have been cancelled or postponed. City of Parramatta puts the safety of residents and visitors first.
