The City of Parramatta Council is currently undertaking community consultation around names proposed for new roads and pedestrian links for Stage Two of the Melrose Park Precinct. Council would like to ensure that the proposed names reflect current community values.
Melrose Park Precinct is located to the north of Parramatta River and south of Victoria Road. The surrounding suburbs include Ermington, West Ryde, Meadowbank and Denistone West. The site is surrounded by the following existing roads: Victoria Rd, Wharf Rd, Hughes Ave and Hope St. Covering approximately 30 hectares when completed, the Melrose Park Precinct will include around 6,000 apartments, a new town centre, community amenities and around 5 hectares of public green open spaces and parklands.
In late 2020, Council conducted extensive community engagement around several names proposed for the roads and open spaces of the Melrose Park Precinct as part of the Stage One naming process.
Stage Two road naming for the Melrose Park Precinct is now underway. Council collaborated with the developer to research the Melrose Park area to find suitable names. Extensive research into the area's history, including its people, industry, flora, and fauna, has been undertaken to propose names that align with Council and NSW Geographical Names Board policies. Those names reflect the heritage, cultures and identity of Melrose Park which makes the place distinctive and memorable for residents and the wider community.
Council is inviting community feedback on the nine proposed names to ensure they are respectful and not offensive before they are officially endorsed. Feedback on the proposed names is welcome until 5pm on Tuesday 1 July 2025.
