Proposal for extension of the closed area on Eleanor Street, Rosehill

Council invites the community's input on a proposal to extend the closed area of Eleanor Street, Rosehill to create a new and relaxing community space!

Background

Over the past decade, the Rosehill area has experienced significant growth, with more people living in apartments without backyards. As a result, Council has recognised the need for additional open space and parks to support the growing community, promote healthy lifestyles, and provide areas for people to connect with nature and one another.

This need became especially evident during the COVID-19 lockdown period, when the community began reclaiming part of Eleanor Street as an informal open recreational space.

What is proposed?

Council would like to formally investigate the community's needs and preferences regarding the reclamation of the cul-de-sac portion of Eleanor Street, Rosehill (east of Penelope Lucas Lane). The proposal is to expand and transform this area into a small open space where residents can relax and connect. To facilitate this proposal, six parking spaces on Eleanor Street would be removed.
