Heritage Property Listing
Heritage items and conservation areas have been identified through various studies undertaken by City of Parramatta since the 1990s. The studies undertaken demonstrated the heritage values and significance of items and conservation areas in accordance with the NSW State Government’s strict criteria for listing. Once identified, they were listed in Council’s planning instruments after a public consultation process.
There are a number of ways to find out if a property is listed as a heritage item or is located within a conservation area.
1. City of Parramatta's planning instruments contain lists and maps of all heritage items and conservation areas:
- Parramatta City Centre Local Environmental Plan 2007 - Schedule 5
- Parramatta Local Environmental Plan 2011 - Schedule 5.
2. A Section 149 Planning Certificate will identify if a property is heritage listed or is located within a heritage conservation area. Simply complete a S149 Certificate Application Form - these certificates are issued by City of Parramatta for a small fee.
