Public Artwork Commissions Overview

This opportunity is for a mural to go on the exterior northern wall of the building (ie the wall that faces the car park).  The mural can be across all or parts of this wall.

The wall is around 6.8m high and 21.2m in length. The building is on a slightly slopped incline.  On the eastern side, there is a protruding bin enclosure. There are also three egress doors and four windows on this wall. The wall has panel-like ‘accents’.

NB: the building is has a lifespan of up to 8 years, subject to council planning decisions.

Artworks will respond to the ‘How to Apply’ section of the Expression of Interest document; keeping in mind the ‘Scope of Works and Deliverables’ and anything else that is detailed in the EOI document. Artworks that create a sense of playfulness, energy and interactivity are encouraged.

Budget

The commission is valued at $30,000 (ex GST) to undertake community engagement, concept design, and installation.

Council will assist the artist in defining, organising and promoting the community engagement activities.
