From Tuesday 21 July, City of Parramatta Libraries will be extending access to its services in line with the NSW Government’s staged easing of COVID-19 restrictions.
Customers will now be able to reserve access to computer stations, study tables and books for collection, subject to terms and conditions.
Limited walk-in access will also be available for browsing.
In efforts to minimise physical contact and protect customers and staff, the number of visitors will be restricted and opening hours limited.
How to join the Library
Library membership is free and is open to anyone, even if you don't live within the City of Parramatta.
To join the library you will need to:
- complete the online form
- visit the City of Parramatta Library or one of the branch libraries with identification with your name and current NSW residential address
If you are unable to join online then visit any of our libraries with proof of identification to fill out an application form.
If you are under eighteen your parent or guardian will need to provide their identification and a Medicare card showing their relationship.
Your Library card
Your library card is your key to our 24/7 online library and our library services. With your library card number and password, you can access thousands of ebooks, online magazines, online resources and much more.
You will need your library card each time you borrow a book or use library equipment including photocopiers, computers and printers.
How many items can you borrow?
You may borrow a total of forty items plus 20 eBooks and 10 eAudiobooks.

You can renew your items once if they are not already overdue by calling 9806 5159 phone, at your local library or through the Online Library Catalogue. Items cannot be renewed if someone else has reserved them.
Reservations and Inter-Library Loans
You can place reservations for Library items currently on the Online Library Catalogue or with staff assistance. These reservations are free and you will receive a notice when you can collect the item form the library customer service desk.
The library is also able to obtain resources from other Libraries throughout Australia via inter library loans. There is a small fee for this service which is non-refundable and there is a limit of 3 inter-library loans per person at any one time.
All items borrowed have a due date that they must be returned. While you have overdue items on your card you may not borrow further materials. An after-hours chute is available for returns at all City of Parramatta Libraries. Only items borrowed within the City of Parramatta Library Service can be returned to our Libraries. If items are not overdue they may be renewed through the Online Library Catalogue or by phoning 9806 5159.
Responsibilities as a Library Member
As a Library member you need to:
- take care of all items you have borrowed including not writing in Library workbooks
- return all items by the due date
- pay for any lost, stolen or damaged items that have been issued on your card
- make sure that no one else uses your card without your permission
- behave in an appropriate manner while you are in the Library
Responsibility for Children
Children aged under twelve years must be supervised by a responsible person who is eighteen years of age or older. Appropriate supervision requires that this responsible person be within sight of their child at all times. For further information please refer to Guidelines and Conditions of Use.
Lost or Stolen Cards
If your card is lost or stolen please contact the library immediately. A replacement card can be obtained for a small fee upon showing identification.

The provision of this information is voluntary, however, without it your application cannot be published.
