Child care centres

Child Care Facilities

This section applies to development applications for:

  • new child care facilities
  • amendments to existing child care facilities that will affect waste generation and/or management.

In addition to the requirements set out for All Commercial Developments, child care facilities will also need to submit a Waste Management Plan that meets the requirements outlined below.

Waste Management Plan

Waste management plans need to include:

  • details of the arrangements for the ongoing maintenance and cleaning of the bins
  • details on the frequency and times of collection of waste, and the proposed measures to minimise impacts on neighbouring properties.

In the absence of City of Parramatta being the nominated waste service provider, the applicant must submit written evidence demonstrating that they have contacted at least 3 waste contractors regarding waste collection, and the details of the preferred private waste contractor to provide the service.

Site Plans/Drawings

Location of garbage and recycling bins in relation to the outdoor play spaces and neighbouring properties.

Controls

Waste can be collected by either Council or a private waste contractor and collections must occur at least once per week or more, depending on the bin size combinations agreed upon.
