About Korean Folk Painting (Minhwa) is a traditional art form created by ordinary people, reflecting their hopes for happiness, health, and prosperity.

These paintings are known for their bright colours, playful style, and symbolic imagery such as animals, flowers, and mythical figures. A unique feature of Korean folk painting is its use of natural pigments made from minerals, plants, and even shells, applied on traditional paper (hanji).

This gives the artwork a distinctive texture and depth that make it different from other painting traditions. Please note:
