Buses replace Parramatta ferry services in October 2025

Due to work on Transport for NSW’s Parramatta Light Rail (Stage 2) project, Parramatta ferry services will be cancelled in October.

Ferry services will not operate between Sydney Olympic Park Wharf and Parramatta Quay, including Rydalmere Wharf.

Buses will replace ferries on Friday 3 October to Tuesday 7 October; Friday 10 October to Monday 13 October; and Friday 17 October to Sunday 19 October 2025.

Ferry services will continue between Circular Quay Wharf and Sydney Olympic Park Wharf as usual.

The closure begins after the last ferry at 8.30pm Friday and will reopen at 5.00am on the final day of the closure, allowing ferries to resume operations according to the regular timetable.

These works are a vital step in the Parramatta Light Rail Stage 2 Enabling Works project. The new bridge between Wentworth Point and Melrose Park will provide a critical connection for residents and commuters, enhancing accessibility and supporting regional growth.

Further details will be shared on ferry services closer to the closures. Residents, river users, and commuters, are encouraged to register for updates for new information.
