Parramatta Special Entertainment Precinct Proposal

Published on 03 November 2025

Council is inviting feedback on a proposal to create a Special Entertainment Precinct in the Parramatta CBD. Special Entertainment Precincts were introduced as part of the NSW Government's Vibrancy Reforms, legislation designed to help councils encourage live performance and support vibrant going-out precincts.

Benefits of Special Entertainment Precincts include:

  • Licensed venues that host live music and entertainment would be able to access additional liquor trading hours and reduced licensing fees.
  • Businesses would be able to access longer and more flexible working hours.
  • No need for a Development Application to stay open late.
  • A Precinct Management Plan would establish a clear process if venues exceed sound thresholds or trading hours.
