Council manages a diverse network of parks and reserves that comprise Community and Crown land including sporting fields, playgrounds, courts, fitness equipment, picnic and BBQ facilities. These offer a range of recreational opportunities to meet the evolving needs of our growing and diverse community whilst also protecting pockets of bushland and waterways that provide important habitat for our native plants and animals.
Plans of management provide a transparent and consistent decision-making framework to guide the management, use and improvement of our parks and reserves for the benefit of the community. The Local Government Act 1993 requires that a plan of management:
Council has adopted a consolidated 'Community and Crown Land Plan of Management' that harmonises previous park and reserve plans of management. It provides a broad framework that aims to maximise the activation and enjoyment of our parks and reserves to meet the growing needs of our increasingly diverse community whilst protecting and enhancing our valuable natural areas.
Park or reserve upgrades or other on-ground works are guided by site specific landscape masterplans or other Council strategies and plans.
